Recognising where we develop in daily life.

We can develop in three ways.

  • The first is that we can develop physically. Life itself does this for us up to our twenties. We can assist this physical development by physical exercise which leads to muscular and fitness development. This type of development requires focus, effort and dedication.
  • The second is that we learn about the material world from teaching and experience. We get to understand more and more about how the world works physically. We also learn how systems and processes work in a social sense. For this type of learning to happen, we need to come up against the situation and then find the concepts that that explain this. We learn these concepts through education and through linking experience to these concepts.

This second kind of development also requires focus, effort and dedication but it is to conceptual interrelationships. We could say that it is the development of the intellect and this development only gets as far as understanding what already exists. These first two kinds of development are well understood and well supported in modern life. The development of the first two parts of our being can lead to the starvation of the third part of our being.

The third kind of development lies before us as a challenge. Without this nothing socially new and moral is possible.

We can experience this third kind of development already in the focus, effort, dedication and the mental activity of holding concepts inwardly before us as we try to grasp the laws behind the material world and social structures. In these processes/activities we are already developing an inner capacity to hold one subject before us at a time, that we need a capacity of effort to do this, and that we must let it relate to us objectively; a prejudice here hides the facts from us. In this third part of our being, we need to add some more of these more hidden capacities to our exercise regime.

  • These include the attitude of veneration for the Truth,
  • openness to something new being possible,
  • and that there is always the positive view of all experiences –

they all add to our development if the positive in them can be identified.

Why is it at all important to develop this moral part our existence? Does this moral part exist only in us, or is it something that exists and we can connect to or ignore?

My tested and self-reviewed experience tells me that there is one world of Good and True that is pre-existent and to which we all need to connect. The connection becomes possible as we take on the exercises required for this capacity. The fact that it is all pre-existent must lead to the insight that all New must come from there. One can see this New appear before the insights of human beings in the evolution of the human being and this evolving capacity expressing itself outwardly on earth. The human being is only as stuck as he is unable to connect to this pre-existing Universe Book.

In physical development and exercise there are ‘weights’ that assist us to develop.

In inner development, there are also weights. These appear as the temptations of haste, hate, fear, doubt and the fantasy that there is maya. Others are courage, diligence, openness, care, objectivity and so on. These moral ‘weights’, be they from good or bad, are significantly harder to overcome than physical weights. They are not so easy to identify, and the exercises are more difficult to get right so that they have the right effect.

Just having an active physical life leads to some form of physical fitness and muscular tone. Just learning about the physical world and how it works can also happen without much effort but with some limitations to life itself.

It is possible today to engage in daily life in such a way that the weights required to develop our inner lives are identifiable and present, even in our work life. We can make these weights visible before us and even feel how engaging with them will do us abundant good through the developing of our inner capacities.

We can now see, through the carefully aligned logical steps of concepts that have been presented above, that it is possible in some readers that an interest has arisen in their own inner development leading to a better connection the world-all/Universe Book.

How to set up ones’ day, even at work, so that I develop inwardly

We know from the above that some of the core ‘weights’ required for further inner development are focus, effort, dedication and the mental activity of holding concepts inwardly before us as we try to grasp the laws behind the material world and social structures, veneration for the Truth, openness to something new being possible, and that there is always the positive view of all experiences. These inner ‘weights’ are out there for us to work with at any moment, anywhere, any time.

We need to engage them to get the resistance that they provide us so that we can develop inwardly. In order to engage them we need to identify archetypes or truths that we must decide to be a servant of, or loyal to. There are an endless number of archetypes. They range from the simple concepts of clean, no waste and discipline to the more complex ones like the definition of economy, the Threefold Social Order and further.

If we take clean and place it before us just as we would when we are trying to learn something new about mathematics, clean gains a certain presence. We see the world through the concept and respond to clean and dirty that we come into contact with. Well, if we do, then we are being loyal to clean. If we don’t we are being disloyal or a-social. It requires inner strength and the capacity to hold clean to be social and loyal. One can feel the inner exercise required here. This exercise is developing our inner capacities especially when we are aware of it from an inner vantage point. If we let go of clean inwardly, we don’t see its presence in our surroundings and we don’t act in support of clean by cleaning. This is where we are lazy and put the ‘weight’ down rather than pick it up.

The archetype of economy is providing relevant products for the material needs of others efficiently. This becomes something we must serve if we choose a life in economy. We must hold this inwardly with strength and clarity before our inner eye and serve it. If we do this, we are acting socially. If we are not able to be loyal to this, we act a-socially. For example, the moment I put myself and my needs ahead of this archetype of economy, I become a-social. I weaken the emerging economic activity because inwardly I have let my focus go to myself and not others, the customers and colleagues involved in the economic activity. One can feel the inner truth of this and alongside this the torment or weight of how demanding this is on me. This challenge is the weight we need to develop our relationship to our inner selves and the world-all.

Another aspect to experiencing our day at work in the way that leads to inner development in the process is to set high standards. High standards are more archetypal than low standards. They provide a bigger weight to train with.

Setting ideals as goals and then trying to ‘allow’ these ideals, through ones’ own inner strength, to appear in the form imagined is also an inner process of experiencing oneself as the mediator between what is possible and what eventuates. To the extent that one gets to experience ones’ own inner cohesion as the limiting factor, one is teased to want to develop further through servanthood to archetypes.

The idea was to assist you to see how you can use this reality practically every day with yourself and your staff.

    Dear David,

This has turned into a truly beautiful visual that perfectly captures the idea behind “expect the best”! It’s taken from real life and highlights the essence of doing what you want and making that desire visible to others so they can hold you accountable—because that’s exactly what you want!
Once again, warm regards from Frank
